Dr. Biswajit Pramanick
Dr. Pramanick, Assistant Professor, Agronomy, GB Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, has been researching and fostering the field of Agriculture with specialised knowledge in Agronomy since 2009. He got his graduation, post-graduation and PhD degree from the renowned state agricultural university named BCKV with an excellent and bright academic career. He was the recipient of CSIR and Australian Council for International Agricultural Research senior research fellowship during his doctoral degree programme. He worked with two very promising extracts of seaweeds or marine algae named Kappaphycus and Gracilaria to find out the efficacy of those extracts in nutrient management on various crops in rice based cropping system. It was a pioneer work in India searching the potentiality of above mentioned two seaweeds or marine algal extract in nutrient management of various crops. He also established the proper dose and time of application of Kappaphycus and Gracilaria sap to get higher yield without affecting the ecological balance to different crops viz. rice, greengram, blackgram, potato, sesame etc. His research work was published as popular article as well as full length research paper in various peer review international and national journals and magazines. Recently one of his research papers has published from Netherlands in a journal entitled Journal of Applied Phycology, Springer. So far, he has got publications of three books on weed management in rice, nutrient management in rapeseed etc. and these books were published by the prestigious Lap Lambert Academic Publishing House, Germany. Now his focal research areas are integrated farming system (IFS) approach for small and marginal farmers, cropping system, conservation agriculture and organic farming. He is intensely attached to develop one hectare IFS model at Pantnagar along with other associated scientists for the marginal farmers sustaining their food and nutrient security.
